20 June 1581: Letter under the Privy Seal, granting to James Prestoun apparent of Walayfeild, his heirs and assignees one or more, the escheat of all goods, debts etc, which pertained to William Forbes of Portlethin in the barony of Fyndoun and sheriffdom of Kincardin, and of all other his lands within the realm, for said William's lifetime; which pertained to the king through said Williame having been put to the horn, 17 Jun 1580, at the instance of Gilbert Meinzeis of Petfoddellis, for not finding caution of said Williame to compear before the justice to underlie the law for the slaughter of Alexander Meinzies, son lawful to said Gilbert, and through said Williame having remained at the horn above a year and a day. 19 October 1581: Instrument of Resignation and Sasine under the hand of Master Robert Young of St Andrews diocese, notary public, 19 October 1581, narrating the resignation made by James Prestoun younger of Waleyfeild, procurator and in name of Gilbert Kennedie of Girvanemanis and Margaret Kennedie, his wife, (appointed by Procuratory signed by said Gilbert and by John Kennedie, notary public, on behalf of said Margaret who could not write), of the superiority of the 3 pound 16 shilling and 8 penny lands of Thomluchie-Monunsioun called Makmoreistoun of old extent, lying in the barony of Glenstinschar, earldom of Lanark, (sic, lege Carrick), and sheriffdom of Air, into the hands of the king as superior thereof; and the Sasine thereupon given of the said superiority by the king to Robert Grahame of Knokdoliane, his heirs and assignees.
