About James Allen Ramage

James Allen Ramage, age 82, of Mechanicsburg, passed away on Thursday, May 30, 2013 at his home. Born October 12, 1930 in Mt. Carmel, PA, he was the son of the late Thomas and Bessie (Minnig) Ramage. Jim was a graduate of Mt. Carmel High School, Class of 1949 and went on to serve in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Following the war, Jim earned his Bachelor's in Education from Pointe Park College in 1972 and his Master's in Education from Duquesne University in 1974. He then spent his career as an elementary school teacher with the Western Beaver County School District in Industry, PA. Jim was a member of Mechanicsburg Presbyterian Church where he was an Elder, ordained Deacon, and served on numerous committees. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #109 and the Tin Can Sailors Association. Surviving is his loving wife of 52 years, Linda E. (Solita) Ramage; his son, James T. Ramage and wife Mary of Wentzville, MO; his grandchildren, Jimmy and Kaitlyn; his sister, Mary Angeli of Middletown; his brother, Herbert Ramage of Dauphin; as well as his special nieces and nephews, Karen and David Angeli of Halifax and Valerie and Stephen Angeli of Hershey. Jim was preceded in death by his brothers, Richard, Alex, Thomas, Jack, and Robert Ramage as well as by his sisters, June Barnes, Margaret Sokol, Charlotte Ramage, and Eleanor Yocum. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM Tuesday, June 4 at Mechanicsburg Presbyterian Church, 300 E. Simpson Street, Mechanicsburg where there will be a viewing beginning at 10:30 AM. Burial with military honors will follow the services at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
