Josiah . L. Ramage was born in Laurens, South Carolina between 1760 and 1770 to Joseph Ramage and Elizabeth Bourland. Josiah L. Ramage and his sister, Rebecca Ramage, moved to Baldwin County, GA between 1810 and 1820. Josiah L Ramage drew land in Wilkinson County, Georgia, in the 1820 Land Lottery. He moved to Wilkinson County and lived there the remainder of his life. His daughter , Katherine (Katie) was born in 1820 in Wilkinson and lived there until her death in 1932. Josiah L Ramage is buried in the Jackson Cemetery #2. It is said that Katie's daughter, Lucinda Ramage and husband, James Thompson are buried in the same cemetery in unmarked graves. James died in 1875 and Lucinda in 1935.
