James Rawlins 17, was a member of Sephton's party of 344 people on the Aurora. James was in the care of William Sargeant.

Party originated from London.

Departure Gravesend, 15 February 1820. Arrival Simon's Bay, 1 May 1820. Final Port - Algoa Bay, Port Elizabeth, 15 May 1820

Ten days after the death of his brother Robert the family experienced a further blow when James was killed on 28 March in the war near Fort Beaufort. A report in the Grahamstown Journal of 4 April 1835 reported that within a few days after the death of Rawlins in the Tambookie country, his brother was slain at Fort Beaufort.
