On 20th inst., at his residence at Presque Isle, James RICHARDSON, Sr., aged 73, father of the editor of this paper [James RICHARDSON Jr.]. He was a native of Lincolnshire, England, was bred to the sea, served in the Royal Navy during the American Revolution, was shipwrecked on board the Rammillies 74, in the memorable gale of 1782, while on their passage home from the West Indies, with the prizes taken in Rodney's victory of the 2nd April. He came to the Lakes of Canada in 1785, and had command of the first merchant vessel that ever navigated Lake Ontario, called the Lady Dorchester, and owned by the North West Company.
