Hi All, Picking up with what has been gathered on the children of James and Rachel Skaggs. Here is what has been gathered for James Skaggs, born abt. 1734.

1. JAMES SKAGGS [Ref.1,2,3,4,5,6] was born Abt. 1734 in Virginia [Ref.7,8] and died Bef. 1816 in Green County, Kentucky Or St. Louis District, Missouri [Ref. 9,10]. He married (1) MARY [Ref. 11]. He met (2) LEAH ??? [Ref. 12,13] 1776 in Nelson County, Kentucky.

Notes for JAMES SKAGGS: From the Green County Review Volume 1, #1, October 1980 "James SKAGGS, s/o the founder of SKAGGS' Station lived in Hardin Co [later Hart Co], on Linn Camp Ck. on a tract of land granted him by 2 treasury warrents. This James SKAGGS was also a Baptist preacher. Fellow minister, Rev. Wm. DOWNS wrote a slin volume of hyms & poems. Song #69 is "On the Rev. James SKAGGS,who departed this life Jan,1814." Sentimental & often straining rhyme, the poem,nevertheless shows the affestion & regard in which the Rev. James SKAGGS was heald,both by coworkers & members of his flock." "Nancy SKAGGS was granted the admx. of her dec'd husband's eatate in Hardin Co on 10th of Oct,1814. James SKAGGS (probably a son) & Joseph PEPPER signed her bond." Green Co. Deed Bk. 9, pgs. 500-502, dated 9 Oct,1820 "The children of James SKAGGS, jr are as given - Matthew, James, Sally PEPPER, Lydia HOOVER, Nancy SKAGGS, Wm. SKAGGS, John SKAGGS, Stephen SKAGGS, Mary SKAGGS, Moses SKAGGS, & Lettice SKAGGS. A grandson, Stephen SKAGGS is also listed as an heir. Stephen was s/o James' son Henry SKAGGS, who evidently died before his father. ii. MARY SKAGGS [Ref. 18], b. Abt. 1753; m. MOSES SKAGGS, May 04, 1796, Nelson County, Kentucky [Ref.19].

iii. STEPHEN SKAGGS [Ref. 20], b. Abt. 1764, Virginia; d. December 14, 1814, Kentucky [Ref. 21]; m. NANCY ANDERSON OR ANDREWS [Ref. 22], September 03, 1799, Nelson County, Kentucky [Ref. 23].

Notes for STEPHEN SKAGGS: Information obtained from James Skaggs Station Article, also articles found in various issues of the Green County Review: "Stephen SKAGGS another s/o the founder of SKAGGS' Station had md. Nancy ANDERSON in Nelson Co. on 3 Sep,1799. He was evidently also a Baptist min- ister as Rev. DOWNS wrote Song #67 "On the death of Stephen SKAGGS". Green Co. Cir. Court suit #5676 concerns the settlement of Stephen SKAGGS' estate. His wife was listed as Nancy, which indicates a 2nd marriage. The date of his death is given as about the yr. 1814."

HENRY SKAGGS [Ref. 31,32], b. Abt. 1760; d. Bef. 1816; m. NANNIE [Ref. 33].
