1870 Census shows family living in Perry, Monroe Co, Indiana: John was 49, Isabel was 55, son - David MD was 21, Margaret R. was 18, James R. was 16 and Samuel S. was 13.
In the 1880 Census, James R., now 26, was living in Jefferson, Kansas with his uncle David Farris (66) who was widowed. Also there was his cousins, David S. Farris (37), Nancy J. (34), and Elizabeth I. (32)
In the 1900 Census, James R. had gotten married but still in Jefferson Co., Kansas. James was now 46, his wife Rebecca was 42 and Pearl A. (16), Elmer J. (13), Ray S. (10) and Alvin W. (5). For some reason the kids middle names were listed as first names?
In 1910 they were still in Jefferson Co. Kansas. James was now 56, Rebecca - 52, Elmer J. was living in the same town but not at home (24), Esmond R. (20) and Alvin W. (15)
By 1920 James and Rebecca were in there 60s and living alone in Jefferson Co. Kansas
In 1930, Rebecca had passed away and James was living with his son, James Elmer Smith in Jefferson, KS and was now 76 years old.
