James Stark of Auchinvole, here treated, is the son of John Stark of Auchinvole. Inquisitiones Generales The name of his mother is not certainly known but it seems quite likely that he is the son of Mary Fleming, the lady of Auchinvole. NRS: RH6/2730 He succeeded his brother John before 15 May 1633, the date upon which he was enrolled as a burgess of Glasgow. Glasgow Burgesses: 86

His Last Will and Testament

James Stark of Auchinvole made his last will and testament at Dumbarton on 2 September 1665. Confirmation was granted on 3 November 1670. [National Records of Scotland, Glasgow Commissary Court, Testament Testamentar of James Stark of Auchinwoll, parish of Kirkintilloch, reference CC9/7/37]

Death

A date and place of death has not been identified for James Stark of Auchinvole, here treated. No mention of it is made in his testament testamentar. He was alive on 2 September 1665, the date upom which he made his last will and testament, but he died before 3 November 1670, the date upon which his widow was confirmed as his executor testamentar. 25 June 1638: James Stark of AchinvoU, compearing this day before the Lords, produced letters of homing raised at his instance charging Mr Archibald Grahame, minister, to remove out of the parish of Mayabroch and betake himself to the city of Glasgow, there to remain until he should be relaxed by his ordinary, as also a summons charging him to appear and see the said homing suspended, and because he was there ready to answer this sammons and no appearance was made by of on behalf of the said Mr Archibald Grahame, he protested that he should not be required further to answer thereto, and that the homing should be put to execution. The Lords admit the protestation and ordain the officers to cause the homing to be executed. RPC VII: 29-30
