Jim was born September 17th, 1912 at Sullivan Station in Surrey and passed away peacefully surrounded by family October 14th, 2004 at Clover House in Cloverdale. The eldest of 14 siblings, Jim was predeceased by daughter Trudy and is survived by his wife of 63 years, May, and 6 children, 15 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He was active within the Catholic Church of Precious Blood and the Knights of Columbus serving once as Grand Knight. Overseas during World War II Jim was in the Canadian Military Auxiliary Services starting with the Postal Corps and later with the Knights of Columbus. A pioneer in Sullivan Station, James ran the Sullivan General Store / Post Office / Butcher Shop. The phone number painted on the side of his delivery Van was No. "1" as he had the first phone. A respected businessman, his working career was completed as Secretary Treasurer of the Lower Fraser Valley Exhibition Society where he worked at the Cloverdale Community Centre for many years. Jim seemed to know everybody and had a great many friends. He welcomed everyone and the family home is still usually filled with relatives and friends. Jim had a zest for life and a twinkle in his eye, he was a real people person, liked to party, and had an impish sense of humour. He will be fondly remembered.
Son of Jeremiah Brown Sullivan and Jean Tarves.
