James and "Sally" had 10 children.
It looks like there were TWO or THREE James Bowling’s, similar time & place.
From Andy Feldman
The Bolling Family Association Group 5 doc has a James (b1756) listed as a son of both Christopher and James (sons of James b1680 brought to Virginia by George Alves). I think they are 2 different people, who happened to be born around the same year to brothers James and Christopher.
James of Clay should be moved from Benjamin's Group 3 family to Christopher Bolling 's Group 5 family, he was not James (b1775 d1861)'s father.

James Bolling bca 1756 of Clay Co., KY is believed to be the son of Christopher Bolling. While we have not clearly defined whether that is Christopher Jr. or Christopher Sr. both Christophers are on the 1767 Tithable's of Pittsylvania County. Christopher Bolling [Jr/Sr] appears at Amis' store in 1782 with William ... probably his son. Christopher Bolling, Walling and several Rices appear on the Petitionin Sullivan County to form Hawkins County in 1785. Christopher sells his land in Hawkins Co. in 1787 [off the top of my head] and is then found in on the Census/Tax List of Lee Co., VA in 1801-3 with James Bolling. They then move to what became Clay Co., KY. James lived on Red Bird; this Christopher apparently moved or died and was succeededby James' son named Christopher on the Census. -- very confusing.
James (son of Christopher) married Sarah BLEVINS ABT 1776 in Hawkins, TN. She was born ABT 1757, and died BEF 1820 in Clay, KY.
