They were the parents of Nancy Ward, born January 29, 1830, married September 21, 1845 Cal Dean Gunter, born March 30, 1818 in Warren County, Tennessee. He died March 27, 1898." James daughter Catherine Ward Keeton and husband Joseph Keeton and other family members are buried at Mt. Moriah Cemetery, Gregg Co. Texas.
They moved to Texas to escape the ravages of the Civil War in Indian Territory as many families did during this time period.
