"James, son of John and Catherine (McDaniel) Ward was born October 22, 1785 married Lucy Haynie born October 30, 1787. He died May 20, 1859 and she died September 26, 1869. They were the parents of Nancy Ward, born January 29, 1830, married September 21, 1845 Cal Dean Gunter, born March 30, 1818 in Warren County, Tennessee. He died March 27, 1898." Son of John and Katy McDaniel Ward of the Cherokee Nation.
Grandson of Bryant Ward.
James daughter Catherine Ward Keeton and husband Joseph Keeton and other family members are buried at Mt. Moriah Cemetery, Gregg Co. Texas.
They moved to Texas to escape the ravages of the Civil War in Indian Territory as many families did during this time period.
