About Major General Sir James Wood, 2nd Baronet
Biographical Summary
"Sir James Wood, Baronet [S. 1666], of Bonytoun, s. and h. ; suc. to the Baronetcy, Jan. 1693, and was served heir gen. and heir special in Bonytoun, 10 Aug. 1704. He served sometime in the Dutch army; was Gov. of Dendermonde; was subsequently Major in Strathnaver's regiment; Col. 21st Foot; Col. of the Royal Scots Fusileers ; Major-Gen. in the army, 27 Oct. 1735, and Brig.-Gen. in Dublin. He m., 22 Feb. 1731, Anne, only da. of Edward Jones, Master of the Royal Vineyard in St. James' Park, Westm. He d. s.p.m., 3 May 1738, when the Baronetcy, apparently, became extinct. His widow d. at Delft, in Holland, in or before 1748. Admon. 25 Aug. 1748, for benefit of her grandson and next of kin, James Allardice-Wood, of Aberbrothock, in Scotland."
