About James Wade Yearby

Mr. James Wade Yearby - born on March 6, 1931 in Pickens County, AL and a resident of Whistler, died at a local hospital on Thursday, November 13, 2008. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mattie P. Yearby; his brother, J.D. Yearby; and his sister, Nellene Keasler. He is survived by his current wife, Marian P. Yearby; one sister, Jewel (Elton) Keating; one daughter, Shirley (Jack) Manning; and one son, James "Mike" (Darlene) Yearby; five grandchildren, Melissa D. Tanner, Latisha A. Wells, Michael Wade Yearby, Adam W. (Amanda) Manning, and April N. Pollock; four great-grandchildren, Jackson D. Tanner, Hunter A. Pollock, Patricia Brianne Wells, and John W. Manning; six step-children, Diane Cochran, James Pate, Wanda Hannon, Rodney Pate, Paula Pate, Greg "Jody" Pate; 15 step-grandchildren; 10 step-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was faithful in service to his Lord at Kushla-Bethany Baptist Church and loved to hear the gospel preached and in song. He blessed everyone he met with a sense of humor and a love of life that was contagious. He truly showed his beliefs in how he met a stranger and always left you feeling better than when he found you. God truly blessed him with the gifts of love and encouragement. His favorite pastimes were fishing and shrimping, and he always shared his bounty with those around him. He retired from Holnam Cement Plant and was a cherished employee and friend to his co-workers. He lived what he preached, and many a lesson was learned from him at work, play, and at worship. His hands were never idle, always reaching out to offer a hug, a pat, a handshake, or a helping hand to all who needed one. He leaves behind a loving family and many friends from his journey through this life. One of his favorite song's lyrics fully describes his life: "This world is not my home, I'm just a passing through." We praise God he's finally home. Visitation in celebration of his life will be held at Radney Funeral Home in Saraland on Sunday, November 16, 2008 from 5-8 p.m. Services will be held in the funeral home chapel on Monday, November 17, 2008 at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Serenity Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Kushla-Bethany Baptist Church Building Fund. Arrangements by RADNEY FUNERAL HOME, 1200 Industrial Pkwy, Saraland, AL.
