They departed from Amsterdam to Brazil 17 June 1912 with about 18 family members, but son Hendricus travelled with his wife and baby daughter on 9 July 1913. The VanderWerfs followed 12 Sep 1916, but had already been staying with some members of the Nieuwenhoff family in Amsterdam before they emigrated.
