About Jan Sobczak
Per my mother's notes: His windmill burned to the ground after the death of Agnieszka. The children were saved from the fire by the workers.
Anieszka died from asthma following the birth of Antonia in 1908. He was widowed to 4 years until the marriage to Maria Kolodziej. Together they bought and operated a restaurant. They had two children, Regina and Irena, who both died at early ages.
Jan was supposedly robbed and killed while doing some banking. He was never seen again. After his death, Maria sent all the children away. Those too young to work were taken in by relatives.
