Jan van Marnix ( Brussels , between 14 February 1537 and 14 February 1538 - Oosterweel , 13 March 1567 ) was a southern Dutch nobleman , brother of Philip of Marnix .
Jan de (of) Marnix, lord of Toulouse , was a member of the ' Compromise ', in which the Calvinist -noble element represented. He designed the first petition and killed in the battle of Oosterweel , often seen as the first battle of the Eighty Years' War
