The Age, Strathroy, Ontario, Canada, Thursday, October 25, 1888, page 4: "Napperton It is with feelings of deep regret that we are called upon to chronicle the death of one of the oldest and best known residents of our, in the person of Jane, the beloved wife of John Currie, Esq., of Lot 15, con 5, Adelaide. The sad advent took place Tuesday evening last, after a brief illness, in the 85th year of her age. The deceased was among the earliest settlers of the having come here in 1837, and in company with her aged partner who survives her, shared all the hardships of pioneer life. Mrs. Currie was highly esteemed by young and old who enjoyed the pleasure of her acquaintance, and in her death the neighborhood has lost a kind friend and obliging neighbor, and the Methodist Church a consistent member. Her bereaved husband and family have the heartfelt sympathy of a large circle of friends in their affliction. The funeral took place this (Thursday) afternoon and was largely attended, the Rev. Mr. Kerr officiating."
