(filed with Death Notice of James DICKS - signature actually thought to be Jonah DICKS) "I am the son of James and wife who died in England. Came out in Weymouth in Ford's party. My father had remarried, but my stepmother died on the ship in Table Bay and was buried in Cape Town. She left a child which was afterwards given to a farmer called SCHEEPERS to bring up. I believe the child died. I think a boy...."
