About Jane English

Biography

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Bushnell-354

Jane was the daughter of John & Jane (Unknown) Bushnell. She was born in Boston on December 18, 1662.

Jane's mother, also named Jane, had removed with her children from Boston (after the death of her husband John) to Saybrook, Connecticut, where other Bushnell family members resided and where later she remarried John Hill/s. However, daughter Jane and some siblings returned to Boston or Salem and reportedly resided with their brother John.

As described in Torrey's "Third Supplement" (p. 91) to his New England Marriages Prior to 1700, Jane had married Richard English by January 27, 1681/2, probably in Boston. Richard was born in Boston per Anderson's Great Migration (vol 1, p. 513-4), where Anderson also presents Jane's marriage to Richard. In Bushnell's Bushnell Family Genealogy, p. 37, Richard is also described as being "of Boston" and whose occupation was a butcher. At least one child was born to Jane and Richard, this birth recorded in Boston, son Christopher born on January 27, 1687. There is also report of a son named John, who was born earlier in 1684 and who died in 1727, but this information needs to be verified.

On March 6, 1685/6, Jane, subject of this profile, her husband Richard, and her brother John "deeded to Sampson Stoddard of Boston, mariner, the house and land near the dock head" in Dock Square that had been rented and occupied by widow Dorothy Hawkins. This property was located near Bendall's Dock and at today's 3 and 4 Dock Square in sight of Faneuil Hall. Though this property was located in Boston, this sale may have been also recorded in Salem's Land Records (Anderson, section "John Bushnell," p. 513).

Little else is currently known re: Jane's children and date/location of death, which are pending additional research.
