• William Butler, Esq., of Tyes Hall (in Cuckfield), Sussex, 3rd son. He married Margaret Greeke, daughter of Thomas Greeke, Gent., of Palsters, Lancashire, Secondary of the Office of the Pipe, by Jane, daughter of George Thomson. They had four sons, including Roger, Edward, and William, and two daughters, Margaret and Katherine (wife of William Porter). In 1587 he and his wife, Margaret, purchased the manor of Tyes Hall (in Cuckfield), Sussex from Thomas Michell and his wife, Joan.
