About Jane Hart - Constable, Free Settler “Eliza Caroline” 1850
At the age of 16 (or 18) Jane Leary was an Irish famine orphan from Skibbereen Ireland, She arrived in Australia on the Eliza Caroline at Port Phillip, Victoria on 31 March, 1850. She served as a maid in Geelong for 6 months. Her brothers were sent to North America on the "coffin ships" and she never saw them again.

Geelong Advertiser 6 June 1914 CHASING CHICKENS AT 80. When chasing some chickens which had broken loose from their pen, Mrs. Jane Constable, a widow aged 80, fell in the yard of her residence, Fyans street South Geelong, yesterday morn ing and was unable to rise. Neigh bors went to her assistance, and Dr. Fetherstonhaugh was called in. He found that the old lady had fractured her right thigh bone in an awkward position near the hip joint. She was admitted to the Geelong hospital.

The funeral of the late Mrs. Jane Constable, of Fyans-street, South Gee long, relict of the late Mr. Thomas Constable, a well-known identity of Cobden, took place yesterday afternoon, her remains being interred in the Methodist portion of the Eastern Ceme tery in the presence of a number of sympathising friends: the glass hearse and mourning coach was followed by a number of public and private vehicles.
