Jane (Jennie) Gordon Moffat

Jane is not with the family in the 1881 census when she would have been 13 years of age. I believe she was with John and Jane Pollock living in as a domestic servant. In 1881 Jane G Moffat 14 years and William Moffat aged 3 years are living with an Isabella Ogg or Egg at 38 Wellington Road.

In the 1881 census Jane Moffat senior is living 44 Wellington Road Aberdeen with Barbara 16 years her daughter and Anne 7 years a scholar. Jane's mother Barbara 76 years a pauper is living with them. Jane dies just few days after the census.

I have searched Scotland's People, Family Search and Ancestry and can find no further records. According to the admission records of Elizabeth Thomson Moffat to Bridge of the Weir children homes (now Quarriers) it says that 5 other siblings were living in America, two brothers and three sisters. Elizabeth and her brother William were sent to Canada.

There is a tree on Ancestry with a Jeanie Gordon Moffat marrying Frank McKinnon in Illinois in 1892, she was born circa 1868, emigrated around 1884. It may or may not be her there is insufficient linking documentation.I have checked again and not been able to find further records. I have located her death record which names er parents as James Moffat and Ann Thomson. There is no recorded marriage for a couple with those names on Scotlands People at a time when records are accurate. It could still be her however the cook County genealogy website which holds the records does not appear to have these older records online currently. (Mar 2019)
