About Jane Moore

https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/202794723/jane-moore

Research by 4 September 2019 indicates that Jane was likely the daughter of Samuel John Kirkland, but has yet to be proven by a birth record in Augusta County, VA. She may have also had the name Rebecca after her mother and for whom she named her daughter. However, some researchers have a Rebecca Kirkland b. 1802. Her possible father and brother, Samuel and Samuel Kirkland, Jr. after moving from Augusta County, VA in 1793/4 lived near Fort Red Stone, PA as did some Moore family (surname of husband). In the 1800 Smiths, Washington, PA census, Samuel lists 2 daughters under the age of 10. The family then moved to Licking County, OH.

James and Samuel Kirkland were early settlers of Licking County (1808 - 1820). Samuel Kirkland and family, were neighbors of a John Moore (father of Daniel Moore, Jane's husband) in 1816 Newton Township Licking, OH and in 1820 Burlington Township, Licking, OH. Jane married Daniel Grove Moore about 1817 likely in Licking County, OH (first son, Oliver Henry Perry Moore born 1819 Licking County). Many records were destroyed in the county courthouse and the remaining records do not include their marriage.

Samuel, Jr., Jane's brother, moved to Missouri Valley, Harrison, Iowa and died there 9 September 1878. He would have been neighbors with Jane and Daniel's daughter, Rebecca Moore Brown Mott.

In 1860 Jane was living with her daughter Mary Weiser and family. Jane likely died before the 1865 IL census as she is no longer listed living with the Weiser family. Nor can she be found living with her other children in the 1870 census for IL and IA. Her death has not been found in IL or IA where several of her children lived.

All collaboration welcomed! I have several projects with imminent deadlines, so further research by me at this time is unlikely. BG 4 Sept 2019
