Jane Falk Oppenheimer was born in Boise of pioneer stock, the granddaughter of pioneer Nathan Falk. Jane attended Stanford University and Finch School in New York. After school, she worked in New York for the Navy for two years before joining the Red Cross to serve in World War II. The first day she met her future husband, her diary reads, "I have finally met the man whom I would like to marry". She and Arthur were married the first of August 1945 at New York City's Plaza Hotel and enjoyed a wonderful life of adventure and learning together for over 55 years. In 1952, they took over four months to travel around the world.

Jane was a noted philanthropist and community supporter, including involvement in Idaho Public Television (PBS), the Idaho Botanical Garden, the Idaho Commission on the Arts, Idaho Community Foundation, Boise Philharmonic and Idaho Shakespeare Festival to name just a few. For many of these, she was a founding member, board member or major donor. The Heirloom Rose Garden at the Idaho Botanical Garden is named after her. She also served on the boards of the Boise Junior League, Head Start, Family Advocate Program, Albertsons College of Idaho, Boise Opera Guild, Boise Art Museum and the Youth Tennis Foundation. She enjoyed membership in the Boise Garden Club, Women's Investment Club, Hillcrest Country Club and the Arid Club. She was recognized with many awards including the Idaho Governor's Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Arts, Idaho Statesman Distinguished Citizen, Girl Scout Women Leaders of Today and Tomorrow, and the Boise Area Chamber of Commerce Distinguished Citizen of the Year Award.

Jane was a very special woman with insatiable curiosity, spirit, energy and joie de vivre. She had many treasured friends of all ages and backgrounds. From http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=61265393
