About Jane Sedgbeer

Through the Cumberland, Ontario, Canada marriage records, Jane Ingersol married Joseph Sedgbeer in 1825. They acquired and worked some farmland. We haven't found death or divorce records indicating why the separation of the couple but we do know Joseph's mother Ann, his step father Samuel Price, his sister Elizabeth and her husband Thomas Tate were present for the ceremony.

From the Lake County, Ohio Biography logs, we learned Jane's husband Joseph had managed to acquire enough acreage and become a successful wheat and barley farmer while "living a life of a frontiersman in a small shack." The article relates how Joseph was "of vigorous opinion" yet very informed. At one point he called out the crown commissioner in a heated debate. After this his wheat field, barn and shack were burned and the crown commissioner threatened him with arrest. Perhaps Jane had had enough and likely parted ways. Exhausted research of Irene Jane Ingersoll did not further conclusion of death or separation in this marriage. Inconclusive dates provided no further evidence of her life after her marriage in 1825.The only record found for a Jane Ingersoll and a Jane B. Ingersoll travelling together as immigrants into the U.S. through the port of New York about 1820.
