My cousin says that at one time, Jane returned to York County in a wagon accompanied by one or two slaves to visit her family, She laughed later when telling about it because her family kept her hidden for days until they could find proper clothes for her. They were a prominent family and it wouldn't do for anyone to see Jane in her wilderness garb.
