I live in Knob Noster, Missouri-about 1 hour east of Kansas City, MO. I am 44 years old and have been working on my family history since 1978. (I took a break for a few years when we lived in Europe-my husband is retired Air Force.) I have just recently broke into the Curtis line. - Julie Jolley 7/20/98.

I think Joshua was David's brother; Samuel are Elijah are brothers, both sons of David. Then, in the next census, Thomas pops up living next to them, so I think Thomas is another son of David (David had four sons, though I haven't figured out who the 4th one is yet). - .Jackie Nordeen, jmn@seark.com. 4/1/02.

Jacqueline Nordeen’s line, jmn@seark.com. - 7/1/02.

I also am decended from Elijah Curtis and Jane Vanderpool and also from Jane's brother John Vanderpool and Ellender Meadows/Meador. Jane's grandson James Linville Campbell married John's granddaughter Nancy White Vanderpool. These are my GGgrandparents. - Jo Flores of Arizona (JoFWHF@aol.com) 2/15/03.

E-mail from Larry Curtis, 7 Dec 2006:
Several years (October 7, 1812) after David sold land to Elijah, James, and Samuel, he sold land to a Thomas Curtis. I suspect this was his fourth son. On October 15, 1812, another Ashe County deed registers a sale of land by another person to a Thomas Curtis of White County Tennessee. This deed is witnessed by David Curtis. I don't know if this is the same Thomas.

GEDCOM Note

Name: Myra Vanderpool Gormley Email: myravgormley@earthlink.net Note: It has been pretty well established that this line of Vanderpools were in North Carolina by August 1757. I have no evidence to indicate that your Jane Vanderpool was born in Virginia. Since she is most likely the daughter of Wynant Vanderpool, he was in the Surry County area of North Carolina and that is likely where she was born. I'm not aware that Wynant ever left the Carolinas prior to 1800.
