Jannet was born in Straitland, Scotland in South Ayrshire to Thomas McIlvine and Margaret Ramsey on 27 Mar 1704.

She married John McIlvane / McElveen in Lochgoilhead and Kilmorich, Argyll, Scotland 23 Dec 1726.
