About Janet Peadie, tertius

JANET PEADIE tertius

Jonnet Peddie (1644) Jonet Pedie (1661)

Janet Peadie, here treated, is the daughter of James Peadie. Her father is identified as a skinner and burgess of Glasgow on 23 February 1660, in the burgess record of her first husband Robert Culane, Glasgow Burgesses: 159 and as a merchant, burgess and guild brother of Glasgow on 16 June 1691, in the burgess record of her second husband. Ibidem: 224

Her father, James Peadie, skinner in Glasgow, was alive on 29 November 1649, Glasgow Burgesses: 131 but it appears that he died before 23 February 1660. Ibidem: 159 This suggests that Janet was that daughter of James Peadie and Bessie Thomson whose baptism was registered on 15 January 1644, at Glasgow in Lanarkshire, Scotland. [National Records of Scotland, Glasgow Baptisms, reference OPR.644/14]

Her Mother's Last Will and Testament

She nominated and constituted: "Jon Thomas & Jonet Peadie my laull children procreat betwixt me & the sd umqll James Pady my husband my only excrs". Confirmation was granted to them on 27 June 1663.
