In the 1871 census Thomas 36 years is an engine man. Catherine is 35 years. Peter is 15 years a coal miner, Elizabeth is 11 years, Isabella is 7 years and Catherine is 5 years. They are living on Back Street Crossgate Fife.

In the 1911 census they have been married for 28 years and have had 3 children who are still living. This appears to be incorrect as they have a grandson there which would make it at least 4 children. The Children still at home are Thomas a horse shoer, Ann a shop assistant and Euphemia a shop assistant.
