Janet Waldo Brown, age 93, of Arlington, VA, passed away Friday, February 24, 2017. She was born in West Virginia, the daughter of Edgar Lee Waldo and Estelle Morris Waldo. After serving in the United States Navy during World War II, she served as a military intelligence officer with the United States Army. She then transferred to the Department of the Navy and worked as special assistant to the Chief of Naval Operations for Latin American Affairs. Janet was predeceased by her daughter, Kathryn Fish Adair Mann in 2003. She is survived by her husband, Capt. Charles H. Brown, USN (retired) and her son. The family will receive guests from 1:30 – 3:30 p.m. Sunday, March 12, 2017 at Calvary United Methodist Church, 2315 Grant St., Arlington, VA where the funeral service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday. Interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org
