About Jean-Baptiste Baptist Menard dit Bellerose

Jean-Baptiste Menard dit Bellerose and Marie-Angelique Dame were married on Sunday, 16 October 1768 at the church of Tres-Ste-Famille in Boucherville, Chambly County, Quebec. Boucherville is located eleven miles northeast of Montreal on the east side of the Saint Lawrence River.

Jean-Baptiste Menard dit Bellerose (1735-1785) was born on 22 April 1735 in Longueuil, Chambly, New France (later called Quebec). He was the twelfth of the fifteen children of Louis Menard dit Bellerose (1691-1761) and Marie-Madeleine Brien dite Desrochers/ Desroches (1695-1784). Longueuil is located five miles northeast of Montreal and nine miles southwest of Boucherville.

Prior to his marriage to Marie-Angelique, Jean-Baptiste had been married twice. He married his first wife, Marie-Francoise David dite Boucher (1734-1760) in 1755 in Boucherville in 1755. They had four children. After the death of Marie-Francoise, Jean-Baptiste married Marie-Marguerite Chauvin (1746-1767) at Boucherville in 1761. They had three children.

Marie Angelique Dame (1746-1809) was born on 1 November 1746 in Boucherville. She was the fourth of the six children of Pierre Dame (1716-1774) and Marie-Reine Blain dite Habelin (1715-1750).

Jean-Baptiste and Marie-Angelique had nine children from 1769 to 1784:

Jean-Baptiste died on 27 January 1785 in Chambly at the age of forty-nine. The church burial usually never gave the cause of death. One year after his death, Marie-Angelique married Jacques Bombardier dit Labombarde at Chambly on 10 January 1786 at the age of thirty-nine. They had one son who died six months after birth.

Marie-Angelique died in Pointe-Olivier, Rouville, Quebec on 29 November 1809 at the age of sixty three. She was buried the next day in the cemetery of Sahttp://tomandkatehickeyfamilyhistory.blogspot.com/2014/10/16-oct-1768-my-5th-great-grandparents.htmlint-Mathias Saint-Mathias is 21 miles east of Montreal. Today, the town is called Saint-Mathias-sur-Richelieu.
