Il est baptisé entre le 8 et le 23 novembre 1626. Trois soeurs sont baptisées à Tourouvre (St-Aubin) : Marguerite, le 04-08-1622, Françoise, le 13-02-1625 et Marie, le 28-04-1632. Son grand-père maternel est Noël Legrand.

Jehan Crête est notre ancêtre qui vint s'établir au Québec. Il était charron ; c'est-à-dire qu'il fabriquait des roues. Il savait lire et écrire car il a signé son contrat pour partir au Canada alors que la majorité des autres ne faisaient qu'une croix au bas du contrat. Il devait rester 5 ans puis revenir en France mais il a décidé de rester au Québec.

On March 18, 1649 he signed a contract of engagement by Choiseau, a notary at Tourouvre, with Antoine Méry, Sieur de la Reboursière, on behalf of Le Neuf du Hérisson, linking him as a wheelwright for a period of three years at Trois-Rivières. Rivers for 80 pounds a year. [1] [13] For its part, the Hedgehog undertakes to make it pass and return and feed during the duration of the contract. [13]

He migrated to Canada in the summer of 1649 and was mentioned for the first time in Quebec at the time of his marriage. [13] [8] [14] His uncle Sébastien Legrand had migrated to the country in 1644. [13]

He married Marguerite Gaulin , born and baptized on May 14, 1627, Percheron girl of Vincent Gaulin and Marie Bonnemer , from Saint-Martin-du-Vieux-Bellême, September 13, 1654 in the chapel of Beauport. [1] [15] [3]

He died and was buried in 1717 in Beauport on March 4 and 5, respectively. [1] [15]

He had 329 descendants in 1729. Jean was a master carriage-maker who enlisted to go to Canada on March 18, 1649. Notary Choiseau drew up the contract at Tourouvre on behalf of Antoine Merry, acting as agent for Michel Le Neuf, Sieur of Herisson of Trois-Rivieres. [17] With his father present as a witness, Jean enlisted for a salary of 80 pounds per year. [17] After arriving at Quebec, Jean, full three years old of the contract at Trois-Rivières before moving to Beauport. On August 11, 1654 Notary Badeau recorded Jean de Fargy portion of Beauport. In 1660 he bought part of the back-fief of Dubuisson from Claude Guyon, husband of the daughter-in-law, Catherine Colin.

Marguerite died in 1703 most likely a victim of the smallpox epidemic that year that killed a quarter of the population of Quebec City. Notary Duprac drew up an inventory of the marital assets on 17 Apr. and on 18 Apr. Jean LeFebvre is the author of the 55 livres 5 sols for Marguerite's food and care during his illness.
