Francois, second son of Joseph Broussard dit Beausoleil and Agnes Thibodeau, born probably at Petitcoudiac in 1746, followed his parents into exile in present-day southeastern New Brunswick, his widowed father into imprisonment in Nova Scotia, and on to Louisiana in 1764-65. Francois married Pelagie, daughter of fellow Acadian Charles Landry, at Atakapas in 1770. They settled on the lower Vermilion near present-day Abbeville, where Francois served as a syndic. Their daughters married into the Duhon, Landry, Meaux and Thibodeaux families. Francois died at his home on the Vermilion in May 1819; the priest who recorded his burial said that Francois was "age about 78 years" when he died, but he was closer to 73.
