Fut armé chevalier par le duc Charles lors du siège de Neuss en Allemagne le 23 mai 1475. Chambellan du Duc, capitaine d'une compagnie d'ordonnance, il fut tué lors du désastre de Granson (Suisse) le 2 mars 1476 (vs).

Jean de Lalaing, knight, having been armed by the hand of Duke Charles, at the siege of Neuss in Germany, on May 23, 1475, the day of the battle against the emperor (Molinet, I, page 129). Chamberlain of the duke, captain of an ordinance company, he was killed at the disaster of Granson, against the Swiss, on March 2, 1476 (old style).
