About Jeffrey Alan Johnson
Jeffrey Alan Johnson, 50, of Evans, Ga., formerly of Meckling, passed away June 29, 2007, in Augusta, Ga.
Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16, at Bergen Lutheran Church, rural Meckling, with the Rev. Leon Schulz officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Meckling Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel in Sioux City.
Jeff was born Sept. 12, 1956, in Vermillion, S.D., the son of Arlo and Edna (Styles) Johnson. He attended Meckling Public School until its closing. He graduated from Vermillion High School in 1974. Following graduation, he moved to Denver, Colo., and lived with his sister, Nita. While in Denver, he worked in retail clothing. When he moved back to Meckling, he worked at Sioux Tools until enrolling at the University of South Dakota. He graduated with a bachelor of science degree in political science.
He married Susan Bell in Huron, S.D. From this marriage, a son, Trevor, was born. He later married Sally Ecklund in Minneapolis, Minn. While in Minneapolis, he was employed at Jerry Leonard's Big and Tall Men's Store, with UPS and as a pharmacy tech for Wal-Mart. He had recently moved to Evans, Ga.
