Oedsma State to Boksum

 The Oedsma State stood Boksum, municipality Menaldumadeel, in the corner of the Hegedyk and Tiltsjedyk.

History   In the northwest corner of the Hegedyk and Tiltsjedyk are two low terpjes.  Here would have been, according to the atlas of the Eekhoff Oedsma State.  KJ van den Akker wrote in his book "From the mouth of the ancient Middle Sea" in 1940 which Eekhoff was mistaken in his assumption that Oedsma and Scheltema would have been the same state.  Oedsma State would be identical to Juckema State which was on the northern part of the village mound. 

Given the history of residents Oedsma State we follow Van den Akker. 

In 1420 there Boxum is a major scheme for named Homme Oedsma.  Homme Oedsma comes in the same year with Gul Sierdsma of Deinum for a "Suenbrieff" between "Sicke Syaerda with sijn vrunden" and Okke tom Broek. 

In 1453 there was a new bell cast for the church tower Boxum and it is stated that "Liuwe Homma ration" "is hoevelinck" to Boxum. 

1481: Leeuwarden "have Throw Lyuus huys to Buxum gecregen income gedistraheert".  Toss until that time, the main composition of the village. Around 1505 he was Grietman of Ferwerderadeel.  Of that money, he Oedsma State rebuilt possible, because if in 1496 an agreement with Groningen closed Wytse Laes of Boksum and Feycke Zierdsma of Deinum two of the signatories.  Wytse was grietman (right) of Menaldumadeel. 

In Boxumer church is a tombstone of Wytze of Juckema to Oedsma, deceased in 1565 and his wife Ynth Feitsma who died 7 years earlier (1558).  In a Latin text that read Wytze took to the faith persecuted refugees in his home.  A kind of hiding so.  A caption says that stone "buried income leyt in Prussen".  So he finally had to flee themselves before the Roman Inquisition. 

Around 1640 lived here a Walta Juckema.  His name is mentioned in the stemkohier of that year with the voices 1, 2, 3 and 4. Proof that the Juckema's very long Boxum have finished the service. 

In 1670, owns "Lady Lucia Walta, wed.  the Lord of Sommelsdijk ".  The house is demolished and the site of five pound size is rented in several pieces. 

In stemkohier of 1698 is one voice to Boxum called "Juckema state" listed, property of Assuerus of Grovestins.  Thereby also state "afgebrooken being the huys been" notation. 

In his own copy of his "geographically Dictionary" From Burmania has noted: ". The remnants v Gragt who previously Juckema-State has encompassed, find me wide of the cemetery.  The lock was demolished in the 17th century.  1757 was' t hear a lot greide army. "  A century later, it is still just as according to master Radelaar (1857).  The dry moats are still present and the soil was replete stones.
