I think my grandfather Spencer Smith (4X removed) was probably good friends with Jonathan Howton. Spencer's daughter, Jemima, married Joseph Howton in 1826. My older brother married Barbara Howton who is a direct descendant of Joseph & Jemima Howton (the descendancy is Joseph, David H, Benjamin F, and Wayman L Howton). The Smith family migrated from Kentucky, through Missouri and Idaho, and ended up in Hood River, OR. The Howtons went south into Arkansas. Ironic that almost 150 years after leaving Kentucky, their descendants find each other in Sacramento, CA.
