Jennie was a Cherokee woman
Biography
Jennie Lowrey was born about 1780 in the Cherokee Nation (East), the daughter of George Lowrey. a white man, and his Cherokee wife Nan-ye-hi. According to Emmet Starr she was the wife of Tahlonteskee. She married Robert Lovett, also Cherokee, about 1815. They were the parents of George, [1] and according to James Hicks, Jesse, William, Sarah, and Robert. [2] The couple appears on the 1835 Cherokee census living in what is now Blount County, Alabama with three children. Jesse is living nearby. [3] The family was Removed to Indian Territory in the Benge detachment. [4] They reached Indian Territory, [5] but Jennie's death date is unknown since neither she nor Robert appears on the 1851 Drennan Roll.
