About Jenny Edvarda Leland
I absolutely loved and adored Aunt Jenny. I have so many loving memories of her, I could write a book. I was facinated with her perfume, 20 Carates. It had gold flecks floating around in the bottle. My father, Halfdon Olaf Petersen, was lost at sea when I was 6 years old. Mother was pregnant with my precious sister Linda. When Mother was in the hospital, I stayed with Aunt Jenny and Uncle Axel. Uncle Axel taunted me relentlesly. Told me he was going to cut off my flats (braids). He was watering the lawn one day, when Auntie told me to give him some of his own medicine. I inocently asked him if I could help. I turned the hose directly on his ample stomach and then ran for cover. When Uncle Axel passed away, Aunt Jenny asked me for help. I was at her side immediately. Tryed to give her strength. Took her to the hairdresser the day before the funeral. Cooked a huge buffet to serve after the services. Took Auntie out for dinner that night, and kept it light. She wanted an Alexander cocktail. Slurped it down and then ordered another one. Halfway through dinner, she said "Oh Thelma you are making me giggle, and my husband's funeral is tomorrow". She was adorable. She was always supportive of me and told me she was very proud of all that I had accomplished. I think of her always with love in my heart
