Notes:

Vintner, yeoman

Austin: Jeremiah Wilson m. (1) Ann Manoxon and (2) Mary ________. He had 12 children--probably three, possibly five, by his first wife and rest by second. He was a freeman at Newport in 1722. His will was proved June 9, 1740. Inventory value was 1,778 pounds, 19s and 11d. It included "2 negro men and women & a mulatto servant Jacob." He left his farm the south half of his house to son Samuel and the other half and garden to his wife. His wife also was willed a "negro man Virgie and woman Phillis," along with six cows. Two sons received "100 sheep, a riding beast to each, and negro Caesar to be sold and money put at interest" for use by the sons when they reached majority.

Memorial: Jeremiah Wilson, born 1674, married (1) Ann Manoxon, (2) Mary ________.

RIGR: Jeremiah Willson, of South Kingstown, yeoman. Will dated 19 May 1740, proved 9 June 1740, pages 146-155. Mentions: Wife Mary Willson; sons Jeremiah, John, Samuel, James and George, all under 21; daughters Mary, wife of Edward Robinson of New London, Conn.; Ann, wife of William Mumford of South Kingstown; Sarah, wife of William Fanning; Elizabeth, wife of The Rev. Joseph Torrey; Mary, wife of William Pollock; Judith Willson and Alice Willson, under 21. Witnesses were Joseph Mumford, John Case and Joseph Fox. [This photocopied info in the Potter notebook.] Above from Vol. 6. Named in his brother James' will. From Vol. 4.

NEHGR: Jeremiah Wilson, born about 1674; died 2 June 1740; buried in the old Wilson family plot on Tower Hill. Married (1) Ann Mainwaring 8 Dec. 1700 in New London and (2) Mary (Smith) Guthridge. He deposed 3 April 1722 that he had been an apprentice to James Sands Sr. of Block Island, who died in 1708. Jeremiah's first wife Ann had nine children and his second wife Mary had seven children by Jeremiah.

Other source, title unknown, lists seven children for Jeremiah Wilson, and Austin says Jeremiah had 12 children, with 3 to 5 being Ann's. From the above list, that leaves Ann, Sarah, Judith and Elizabeth as the children of Ann and 7 for Mary. The 12th would have died before the will was written. This is all supposition, but will record it for now.

Burial: Wilson Family Plot, Tower Hill Cemetery
