About Jersey Annie Fitts
James Harris[James Harris/3,Oliver/2,Henry/1] Fitts/4 in his book, "Genealogy of the Fitts or Fitz Family in America," MDCCCXCVII pages 84-86 No.40, states that he himself went to Tennessee to recover his brother's remains. Her husband, 1st Lt William Faulcon Fitts died December 27, 1862 a few days prior to the Battle of Murfreesboro and was buried there. Jersey had her husband's remains recoverd and took them back to Tuscaloosa where he was re-interred with honor as a hero of the Confederacy at the Evergreen Cemetary. When she died, she too was interred at the family plot in the Evergreen Cemetary.
