About Jerusha Burroughs

Jerusha was the ninth of ten children of Richard Hart and Elizabeth Lanning Hart.

She was descended from Lt. Ralph Lanning of Captain Hunt's Company, First Regiment, Hunterdon Militia, a scout and guide to Gen. George Washington during the Revolutionary War, and from the paternal grandparents of John Hart, Signer of the Declaration of Independence for New Jersey.

Jerusha married Moses H. Burroughs on May 17, 1827. They had three children: Richard Hart in 1828, Huldah Ann in 1834, and William Lanning in 1846. All of their children married a Mathews.

Jerusha had 13 grandchildren and 166 additional known descendants as of early 2008.
