Theory of another Jacob of Sussex New Jersey Descendant

Then I went back to Jonathan. The only one I couldn't prove wasn't. But how could I prove he was.

Then came a light bulb. His wife Jerusha Barron. I shouldn't be related to her unless she was the mother of Jacob. So I did a dna match search using the filters Barron/mass. Bam! Multiple matches. 20+ to matches with Barrons of colonial Mass. With no common matches to me.

One tree started back at John Barron (father of Jerusha) to Jerusha showing she married Jonathan and they had a child named Thankful. I can't think of any reason to have dna links to Jerusha and her family other than she is the mother of Jacob which makes Jonathan the father of Jacob.

So this is why I have come to the conclusion. DNA does not lie. If anyone thinks my methodology is flawed let me know.

To those who must have it on a piece of paper you are not going to find it. People have been looking for a long time. Professionals. Birth records have been lost or destroyed.

I am interested in Jerusha (Barron) Emery, too.I just started to work on that line.Maybe we can share information as we learn more.

The "Emery Family" by Rev. Rufus Emery (1890) says that Jonathan Emery and Jerusha Barron's intention of marriage was published on 7 December 1753 in Dracut, MA (p. 26).On the same page, it says that John and Hannah Barron lived in Dracut, MA.(The NEHGS library has the "Emery Family" in case you haven't seen it.)

What follows next may or may not be useful, but I'm using it right now as a guide for research since I don't know anything else. So, of course, it may all turn out to be wrong.

According to the "NEHG Register", vol. 61 (July 1907), p. 244, there was a Hannah Barron of Dracut, MA (23 Jan 1724/25-18 Mar 1753) who married someone named Jonathan Jones. The interesting part to me was the article said that Hannah (Barron) Jones was the "daughter of John and Hannah (Richardson) Barron of Dracut."Since the time frame didn't preclude these Barrons from being Jerusha's family, I have been gradually checking that out.

Coincidentally I have other ancestors who lived in Chelmsford, MA at that time, so I knew there were many Richardsons in Chelmsford.(There were also Barrons, but I haven't found any possible John Barrons yet.)According to p. 305 of the Chelmsford VR (also available through the NEHGS library), a Hannah Richardson of Chelmsford and a John Barron of Dracut had their intention of marriage published on 23 August 1721.Unfortunately for my purposes, there was also a Hannah Richardson of Chelmsford whose intention of marriage with Jonathan Parkhurst was published on 7 June 1724.A Hannah, daughter of Josiah and Mercy Richardson, was born in Chelmsford on 28 September 1698;another Hannah. daughter of John and Elizabeth Richardson, was born in Chelmsford on 18 March 1702/03 (p. 131, VR).

Therefore, there were two possible Hannahs from Chelmsford, MA who might or might not have married the right John Barron.I looked them up in the LDS IGI, but the Barrons evidently have not been researched much. However, if the information in the IGI is correct, it appears the Hannah Richardson born in 1702/03 married Jonathan Parkhurst.

The dates could be right for the John and Hannah Barron in the "Register" article to be Jerusha's parents. If I can get any references about the Barrons or Dracut, MA, I will check that out next. However, it will be slow going.
