The DAR has done considerable research on this Jesse Goodwin, DAR # A045801 and I am adding this information in hopes that you will find it useful. Future applicants for membership will need to prove correct service.

Notes: Service & Dates of birth/death are in question. This man appears to have been born ca 1767/8 in Craven County, son of Robert Goodwin, who died in 1809 in Christian County, KY.

He lived between Broad & Catawba Rivers, SC during the Revolution. See Perrin, History of Trigg County, KY, pg 122. See Data Correction File. 10-82.

Birth: ca 1760 Ninety Six District, SC.

Death: 6 - 1848 Henry County, TN.

GEDCOM Note

Jesse Goodwin, along with his father Robert Goodwin and brother
Samual Goodwin migrated to Cerulean Springs, Christian County, Ky.
He was a soldier in the Revolutionary War. According to the books,
"The North Carolina State Colonial Records," Vols. X & XII, 1776-1778
and Vol. X, page 578, the following account is given:
Note:
" The Congress met on Saturday, May 11, 1776, and awarded the
following: Jesse Goodwin, a soldier in the service of this Colony,
having been dangerously wounded and rendered incapable for some
time to come to get a subsistance by his labor, Resolved, that
the Treasurers or either of them, pay to the said Jesse Goodwin
the sum of 28 pounds and be allowed in their accounts with the
public."

Note:
"Mr. Speaker and Gentlemen of the Hoouse of Commons: This
House have received the resolve of yours for allowing Jesse
Goodwin, the sum of ten pounds till theGeneral Assembly shall
otherwise direct, and concur therewith."
Note:
Jesse Goodwin received a land grant of 816 acres in district 96,
Pentdleton Co., S. C. June 5, 1786. He sold this land in 1803.
Note:
Jesse Goodwin and his family settled on land known as the Wake Place
in 1884, near Cerulean Springs in Christian County, Kentucky. By survey
No. 3508, he patented 200 acres on Muddy Fork Creek, December 15, 1798,
and another 200 acres, also on Muddy Fork Crek, Survey No. 856, April 25,
1804, and a final patent of 200 acres, also on Muddy Fork, Survey No.
3569, April 25, 1817. The No. 856 Survey (200 acres) was sold to his son
John Goodwin in 1814; given by John Goodwin to his daughter, Leah
Goodwin Turner, wife of Robert Rogers "Squire Bob" Turner, in 1832;
thence to her son John James "Jim" Turner, in 1869; then sold by his
widow, Martha E. Atwood Turner to her son-in-law, County Judge J. Lloud
Blakeley in 1909; and was finally passed out of the family in 1949 when
Judge Blakeley's daughter-in-law sold the farm to C.W. and Wallace E.
Davis. This farm remained in the Goodwin-Blakeley family for 145 years.
Jesse Goodwin, his wife and several of their children left Cerulean
Springs in 1825 and moved to Weakley Co., Tennessee. He died in the
spring of 1848, and is buried in the Goodwin Cemetery in Weakley Co.,
Tennessee.
