OBITUARY
The Late Mrs. Jessie Smith.
The funeral of the late Mrs. Jessie Smith, wife of Mr. James Henry Smith, contractor, of "Sunnyside," 236 South-terrace, Fremantle, took place on Monday afternoon, September 18, and was attended by many friends. The deceased lady, who was 58 years of age, was born in Ayrshire, Scotland. In 1878 she came to Australia, landing in South Australia, where her husband followed farming pursuits at Moonta. After 19 years in that State, the deceased lady came, to the West, and had been a resident here for the last 25 years. In Fremantle she was very well known and highly respected. A husband and a grown-up family of two daughters survive her. The funeral cortege moved from "Sunnyside" and proceeded to the Fremantle Cemetery, where the remains were laid to rest in the Presbyterian portion. The Rev. R. Hanlin officiated at the graveside.
The chief mourners were Mr. James H. Smith (husband), Mrs WJ Saunders, and Mrs. J. Finlay (daughters),
Messrs. F. Saunders and J.Finlay (sons-in-law), Mrs. A. Douglas (sister), Mr. C. Smith (brother-inlaw),
Mrs A. Bradshaw and the Misses L. Smith and J. McNab (nieces), and Mr. W. McNab (nephew). The pallbearers
were Messrs. G. Saunders, T. A. Williams, F. Taylor, B- T. Daly, C. Williams, and C. Staples. Wreaths were placed on the grave by relatives and numerous friends, and communications expressing sympathy continue
to be received by the bereaved relatives.
