Neil McInnis (Michael) was 5 years old when he came to Cape Breton in 1817. He became a schoolteacher, and he taught school for forty years. He settled at Castle Bay and received a piece of crown land from the Provincial Government for his long professional service. He was the first Postmaster of Castle Bay. He married Mary, daughter of Alexander McNeil (Malcolm).

Issue: — Jessie, Ann, Katie, Mary, Christie, Bessie, Michael, and Alex.

 Jessie married Donald McNeil (Og), Castle Bay.

Donald Og settled in the homestead at Castle Bay. As he had the best grove of apple trees in the place at that time, he was sometimes called “Domhnall nan Ubhlan.” He was thrice married. His first wife was Ann Brown. Issue: — John, Michael, Thomas, Stephen, James, and Katie. His second wife was Jessie, daughter of Neil McInnis. Issue: — Bessie Ann, Francis, John, Michael, and Mary. His third wife was Mary McPhee, of Rear Big Pond.
