"History of Christmas Island Parish" - page #81:
Descendants of Jonathan McKinnon of Barra, Who Settled at Castle Bay.
This man was married and had a son named John who married Ann, daughter of Malcolm McDougall, Miller, of Barra. It seems that this couple was among the early immigrants that came to the Gulf and went from there to PEI. They had a family of one son and one daughter, Jonathan, and Jessie. After the death of her husband, this Mrs. McKinnon and her family came and settled at Castle Bay on the land now occupied by Malcolm McInnis. Her son, Jonathan, received a fair education in PEI. He was twice married. By his first wife he had two children, Peter, and Flora. The latter married Michael McDonald (Iain Eoin) who settled at N. S. East Bay. His second wife was Peggie, daughter of Neil McNeil (Goillicean) of Grass Cove, Victoria Co. Issue: -- Mary, Ann, Michael, and John. About fifty years ago, this family left the parish and settled near Reserve Mines. Michael went to sea and was drowned near Halifax. John is a miner. He settled in Cumberland County.
Jessie McKinnon married Peter McNeil, Fiddler, Rear Castle Bay.
