Jessie J. Oakes

Obituary Miss Jessie J. Oakes, 78, of 22 Whitney Ave., died Monday in Jones Memorial Hospital following a short illness. She had resided here for the past three years.

Born Jan. 21, 1887, in the Town of Franklinville, Miss Oakes was a daughter of Edgar D. and Nettie Lounsbury Oakes. Before moving to Wellsville, Miss Oakes resided in Cattaraugus for many years.

Surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Lottie Knox of Franklinville, Mrs. Rose Witter of Wellsville, and Mrs. Alice Moore of Great Valley; a brother, Edward W. Oakes of Franklinville, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Babbitt & Allen Funeral Home in Franklinville. The Rev. Knight H. Washburn of the Franklinville Presbyterian Church will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Prospect Cemetery, Franklinville. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.
