Jessie Smedley, 99, passed away in a Havre nursing home Wednesday.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Holland and Bonine Chapel. Burial will follow in the Havre Cemetery.

She was born Dec. 1,1885 in Montrose, Mo. She went to Lansford, N.D. with her parents. The family homesteaded there.

She attended Minot State Teachers College and the Normal School in Valley City, N.D. She taught in North Dakota and Wyoming.

She married John H. Smedley Sept. 30,1930. They lived on a farm 27 miles north of Havre on the St. Joe Road. They retired in 1970 and moved into Havre, where they had lived since.

She was a member of the Van Orsdel United Methodist Church.

She is survived by a niece Jeanette Hughes of Filer, Idaho.
